Inspirations

These are some people whose work I find inspiring. Even if we can't be as amazing as them, we can work in their spirit and put up webpages to echo the love. What do they have in common? It's hard to say, but they seem united in a sincerity to their passion, their resoluteness, and a certain type of humility. This page is for the inspirers!

Carl Sagan

"I am often amazed at how much more capability and enthusiasm for science there is among elementary school youngsters than among college students... Our species needs, and deserves, a citizenry with minds wide awake and a basic understanding of how the world works."

Vannevar Bush

"The applications of science have built man a well-supplied house, and are teaching him to live healthily therein. They have enabled him to throw masses of people against one another with cruel weapons. They may yet allow him truly to encompass the great record and to grow in the wisdom of race experience. He may perish in conflict before he learns to wield that record for his true good. Yet, in the application of science to the needs and desires of man, it would seem to be a singularly unfortunate stage at which to terminate the process, or to lose hope as to the outcome."

"I mean, you have to be able - you have to have made the commitment within yourself to do whatever it takes to get the job done and to try to inspire other people to do it, because obviously the first rule is you can't do it by yourself."

Pope John Paul II

Marshall McLuhan

"Men on frontiers, whether of time or space, abandon their previous identities. Neighborhood gives identity. Frontiers snatch it away."

"Diaper backward spells repaid. Think about it."

"We become what we behold. We shape our tools and then our tools shape us.”
